Musicians
Inclusion in one of our list of artists (who also happen to be Orthodox)* simply signifies that the artist (or if it’s a group effort, at least one of the members) is an Orthodox Christian; it does not imply anything more. (Artistic “merit” and the relationship between Orthodoxy and Art is a discussion for another time and place.)**
We encourage our readers, whenever possible, to purchase from the artists, or find some other way to support them. That said, some artists have provided ways to enjoy their music online and, as much as possible, we have included links to downloads, etc..
Liturgical
Non-Liturgical (Classical)
Arvo Pärt (Fan Page) (MySpace)
Non-Liturgical (Contemporary)
Brantley & Stephen Cox (Bandcamp)
They Sang As They Slew (Bandcamp)
* We realize that some Orthodox artists do not necessarily want to be labeled as such (not that they’re ashamed of their faith, but they do not want to be pigeonholed as “religious” artists). This is why we favor the phrase “artists who also happen to be Orthodox.”
** Furthermore, This list has not been curated, i.e. we do not discriminate or refuse inclusion based on our own musical taste.
